With an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered team of cloudworkers, automation and offshore outsourcing can work hand in hand
On November 30, 2022 the world woke up to the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) when ChatGPT was launched publicly. Business leaders around the world began to understand the impact of cognitive automation using AI within their business processes. Yet many small and medium businesses struggled in strategizing and implementing automation projects that utilize true powers of AI.
Many of these small and medium businesses (SMBs) situated in the developed world are already familiar with the cost advantages of offshore outsourcing, and they regularly take services from Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms located in developing countries such as India, Philippines and Bangladesh. These firms manage teams of skilled workers who work remotely from the location of their clients, and are fashionably nicknamed ‘cloudworkers’.
Now, the firms which rely on such offshore outsourcing are in a dilemma whether to continue taking services of these BPO firms or to develop business process automation solutions, often spending hundreds of thousands of dollars during implementation of such large-scale projects through taking services of expensive IT consulting & services firms. Since each firm have their own internal business process structures, which depends on the nature of the business among other factors, standardized solutions for automating business processes for these SMBs is off the table for now.
However, imagine partnering with an outsourcing partner that is implementing automation and AI within its work processes. This way SMBs and even mid-level firms can harness the power of automation and AI right through their outsourcing partners. Though skeptics may question whether such implementation will actually benefit them in terms of efficiency: the answer to which is that any productive gain for BPO firm will definitely benefit the outsourcing firm in each of the processes and tasks carried out, and it will even reflect in the cost of outsourcing, since BPO firms mostly operate in a transparent ‘cost plus’ basis of costing with its partners. This is almost unique to the BPO industry, as few niches within the broader service sector allow such transparent costing with their clients. Hence, SMBs should definitely take advantage of this potential new synergy of between the power of offshore outsourcing and automation & AI, and reap the full benefits of automation & AI just like any other Big Businesses.
